My art is transitional in nature. Evolving over the years from purely representational to more fluid and spontaneous
abstractions. My relationship to God's natural order and
my reinterpretation and manipulation of that order, is a central element to my creativity.
I draw inspiration from concepts like Ordered Complexity and Emergence, where things build up from a simple base structure by following a set of predetermined rules, and self-organize as they go. Armed with the design elements of line, shape, color, value, and texture to create the underlying structure of the work. I apply paint quickly with intuition and spontaneity. Splashes of color and
expressively charged brushstrokes are the result of responding to the energy of the moment. The thrill of exploration and risk taking
awakens the senses so that as the work speaks I can respond with all of my focus following the painting where it leads.
I translate this into painting by building off of the random, utilizing various color harmonies and surface textures to visually engage the audience.
These paintings allow the viewer to be the interpreter of the work. Each person brings his or her own experiences, vision and meaning to each piece to make it uniquely their own.
